Leadership Training

When you are a leader then leadership training is vital. If you do not grow as a leader you are slowly dying as a leader. There is not status quo in leadership, which is the same as in nature. A flower is either growing or slowly degenerating.

So leadership training is the antidote for degenerating as a leader. Vital questions you should ask yourself when it comes the time to select a course, seminar och lecture to participate in are:

  • Am I in a mental balance at the time to be able to fully absorb this training?
  • What is the purpose of the training? How does that fit into my long term leadership development plan?
  • If you do not have a written down long term development plan for this area of your life, your task is to ASAP find a training that deals with this topic or just do it. You need one of those.
  • Is the supplier of the training well referenced? Ask for previous clients and contact them. You are investing time and money in your professional growth and should spend it wisely.
  • Is there a support system of some kind in place to implement what you learn afterwards into your everyday work and life? This can be offered by the supplier or inhouse at your company. The key is that it exists. Too much is invested in trainings that are not followed up on.

Use this advice wisely. Remember your common sence and the voice inside your heart knows what is best for you. The unique you. This also applies to leadership training.

It is easy to overdo it…to work too hard.

A great leadership is without effort. That is one of the qualities of leadership. There are different ways to achieve success in life. An excellent way to do it is to create a crystal clear image of my desired outcome, of what I want in life and then surrender to a higher power and stand strong in that faith.

When I meet another person I carry my clear image with me. I remember that I have two ears and one mouth. I give the other person the gift of attention. I engage myself in being there for him or her. I do it effortlessly through faith.

And suddenly, as through a miracle, when you least expect it an amazing leadership is born in the moment and all you desire falls in to place.

Clear image, strong faith and presence! Good luck!

New Year, New Possibilities!

This is somewhat of a cliché and at the same time it contains an important message. Everything is created twice, first in your mind, then in real life. This is a process that can be very helpful to you in your leadership.

Do you have a vision for your leadership already prepared? What you want to achieve with your leadership and what you want other people to remember of your leadership after your time has passed.

Have you set goals for the new year? Do you know what you wish to cause and when?

Have you created plans that match your goals and your vision?

This is a great time to take the new years promise to a whole new level, to make this a time when you shape your leadership in your mind so that you can then go out in to the world and manifest it with clarity, power and joy.

High touch leadership

The world in general and the world of leadership in specific, is becoming more and more High Tech. New gadgets, widgets and what-shall-I-call-its are surrounding us. This is awakening a great need for High Touch in leadership.

As the world goes more High Tech, leaders need to go more High Touch. Humans are human, no matter what technological breakthroughs we hit within the near future, we have a need for human interaction.

A you see me, I see you, kind of thing. And that is what I call High Touch, human meeting human. As a contrast to human meeting machine, leaders need to work on the High Touch part.

Servant Leadership

I had lunch with a good friend a while back and we spoke of life, the world and organizations. It was one of those conversations that feel so important to have, to give oneself time to reflect, particularly together with somebody else.

One thing we spoke of was whether people have a genuine interest of serving. A wise person whom I can not at the moment remember the name of said that the most important thing for a corporation or business is to serve.

I am convinced that the future is the brightest for those companies and organizations that put serving at the top of the agenda. This includes seeing oneself as part of a larger context, a link in a longer chain, a cogwheel that affects far more other cogs than what is visible to the human eye.

The same goes for and will go for leadership. Servant leadership has been on the agenda of trainings, programs and conferences for some time now and I am sure that the time is more ripe for it now than ever. It means that you in your leadership put the focus outside of yourself in the form of a deep and sincere wish to serve others. It means that you put your leadership in a larger context of serving the world. Contexts create motivation, efficiency and joy. Zig Ziglar says “if you help enough other people get what they want, you can have whatever you want”.

I held a seminar a while back about believing. Believing as a corner stone in a great leadership. A leadership that makes a difference in the world is about belief. Anyobdy can lead when they know, but to lead when you do not know, that takes belief. Believing means being able to see that which does not yet exist. To be able to see around the corner, how it could look like. The great leaders that we choose to follow have that ability. They are able to that which has not yet come to form, that which lies in the future. They have a belief in something that will happen, something that will come to pass and they live that belief, communicating it to others.

John F Kennedy believed it was possible to land a man on the moon before the end of the sixties. Mahatma Gandhi believed that India could become independent. Stefan Krook, CEO of God El (Good Electricity in Swedish), believed it was possible to build a power company that donates all its profits to charity. It is time for us all to ask ourselves what we believe in and live that belief in our leadership.
